With its sharply written characters and consumerist satire, The Outer Worlds remains as relentlessly engaging in 2023 as it did in 2019. Obsidian Entertainment’s stellar sci-fi RPG tells a solar system spanning story of lost colonist who, after being locked in cryo-sleep for 70 odd years, is awoken to discover that not only have their family and friends remained in stasis, but a gargantuan conspiracy has been unearthed that points to corporate involvement in the future destruction of the colony. Indeed, the essence of The Outer Worlds remains undimmed in years since its release on PS4.

There’s no way to upgrade your standard edition game unless you have purchased DLC. Keep in mind that this Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition is a paid upgrade and in most cases, players have had to purchase the entire game again if they only owned the base version of the original release with no DLC. The game’s inconsistent frame rate is causing headaches for gamers on Steam. Performance issues on PC are also present. On PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, the game runs at 40fps on the so-called “60fps performance mode”. According to players, there are substantial frame rate issues plaguing Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition. Players across all platforms including PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC have been complaining about the inconsistent performance across the game. Since its launch on Tuesday this week, the game has come under fire for not only its shoddy upgrade path but also its terrible performance issues. However, by the look of things, it would be best for players to stick to the last-gen versions of the game as this “ Spacer’s Choice Edition” is a hot mess.
